Milliner, Embroiderer and Print Maker
Trained as a fine artist and art teacher at Kingston College of Art and London University where she studied painting, sculpture, textiles and printmaking. The experience as a sculptor, working in 3 dimensions, proved useful later in designing hats.
Anthea had a millinery shop for more than 2 decades before joining Ten Women Gallery to pursue textile art and printmaking. Her hats are hand blocked on wooden blocks made to her own design. Her prints and cards are made from hand carved blocks, individually inked and pulled onto linen or mulberry paper. Blocks of different types are an important part of her creative work.
